Top Mechanical Bull Riders
March 6, 2023
Bull riding is a dangerous and adrenaline-fueled sport that requires immense physical and mental strength. It takes a lot of guts to climb atop a raging bull and try to stay on for eight seconds. Professional bull riders are some of the toughest athletes in the world, and participate in one of the world’s most unique sports.
Over the years, there have been many bull riders who have captured the imaginations of fans. At Buckin’ Wild, we’re big bull riding fans, and wanted to talk about just some of our favorite bull riders today.
Lane Frost, Gone Too Soon
Lane Frost is considered by many to be the greatest bull rider of all time. He won the PRCA World Championship in 1987 and became a fan favorite for his riding style and charisma. Tragically, he died in the arena at the young age of 25, but his legacy lives on as a true legend of the sport.
Ty Murray, One of the GOATS
Ty Murray is another legendary bull rider who won seven All-Around Cowboy titles and was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2000. He was known for his strength and endurance and is widely regarded as one of the best all-around rodeo cowboys in history.
Chris Shivers, and His Three PBR Titles
Chris Shivers won the PBR World Championship three times, in 2000, 2003, and 2006, making him one of the winningest riders in the history of the PBR. He retired in 2012 but is still considered one of the greatest bull riders alive today.
Many Professional Bull Riders Practice With Mechanical Bulls
Professional bull riders use mechanical bulls to practice their skills and improve their riding techniques. A mechanical bull is a machine that simulates the movements of a real bull, allowing riders to practice their riding skills in a safe and controlled environment. Mechanical bulls are often used by rodeo schools, where aspiring bull riders can learn the basics of the sport without putting themselves in danger. These schools often have experienced bull riders as instructors who can provide guidance and feedback to help riders improve their skills.
In addition to rodeo schools, many professional bull riders also use mechanical bulls to practice. This allows them to work on their riding techniques and build their strength and endurance without the risk of injury from a real bull. Mechanical bulls are also often used in bull riding competitions as a warm-up tool for riders.
