5 Outdoor Party Considerations
December 15, 2022
Are you planning an upcoming outdoor party or event? If so, you’ve likely got a good bit to worry about. Attending a party is one of the most fun things one can do in life, and while hosting one can also be a ton of fun, it can also be stressful. At Buckin’ Wild, we’ve helped a lot of Marylanders plan outdoor parties and have a great deal of expertise in doing so. We wanted to talk about five considerations you need to take into account when planning an outdoor party or event in Maryland.
5. Be Prepared for Rain
Living in Maryland, we may not get as much rain as some other parts of the United States, but we get our fair share. If you’re planning an outdoor party or event, you must take the weather into account, especially rain. Many people opt to have a rain date for their event/party, which is a good route to go, though rescheduling can prove problematic. Many other people choose to rent tents to keep all of their guests dry should it happen to rain.
4. Ensure the Area Will Be Upkept
This may vary greatly depending on where you’re hosting your event, but no matter where it’s being hosted, you need to make sure the grass is cut, and that the area is generally clean. If you’re hosting in your yard, this work will be up to you, but if you’re hosting it someplace else, it never hurts to ask whoever manages the property how often they mow the grass.
3. Will Insects Be a Problem?
Hosting a party outside means your party will be coexisting with nature, which means you may have to deal with some insects. Luckily, there are multiple ways to combat the bugs. If you’re renting tents, renting tent flaps along with them is a great way to keep insects away from your guests. Using bug spray and things like tiki torches and citronella candles will help too. You can also have a pest control company spray the property, or ask the property manager if they already have it sprayed.
2. Keep Your Food and Drink, Hot and Cold
When you’ve got a kitchen and electrical outlets every few feet, it can be easy to keep food and drink hot and cold, but the task is a little bit more involved outdoors. To keep food hot, chafing dishes are usually your best bet. To keep your drinks cold, coolers with ice are the way to go. You’ll need to be sure to replace Sterno cans in the chafing dishes, and ice in the coolers, throughout the party.
